The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of the key suspect in connection with the tragic death of a 22-year-old housewife.
The victim, Mrs Rumaisa Haruna, was found dead in her home at Tsamiyar Duhuwa, Farawa Quarters, Kano, on April 6, 2025.
Her husband, Ibrahim Mohammed, reportedly discovered her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood with deep wounds to her neck. Though she was rushed to a nearby medical facility, she was declared dead on arrival.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, revealed that Shu’aibu Abdulkadir, aged 35 and a resident of Madatai Quarters, was apprehended last Friday after a thorough investigation and intelligence-led operations.
According to the statement, the suspect has confessed to the murder of the housewife, admitting he strangled and stabbed her in the neck, which ultimately caused her death.
The statement added that the accused is currently in custody, as detectives continue to probe for any additional suspects or underlying reasons for the crime.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
In the same statement, Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, praised the prompt efforts and professionalism of the investigative team, assuring the public of the Command’s dedication to maintaining security.
“The Commissioner urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station,” the statement emphasised.
