The Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has deployed officials to Madobi Local Government Area after heavy rainstorm caused widespread damage.
A powerful downpour accompanied by strong winds battered many homes in the area on Sunday night.
Similar incidents were previously reported in Tudun Wada and Sumaila Local Governments following earlier rainstorms in the state.
The Kano Executive Secretary of SEMA, Isiyaku Kubarachi, said the agency is actively responding to the effects of the windstorm.
He said, “Similar incidents happened in Tudun Wada, Sumaila and Doguwa local government areas, and now it has happened in Madobi.”
The hardest-hit locations include Madobi town, Unguwar Dawa, Zanta, Bode, Jibga, Rikadawa, Chikawa, Jirgwai, Kubarachi, Bagurau, and Tudun Wada.
The windstorm reportedly caused extensive damage to homes, power lines, and several public structures, leaving many residents stranded.
SEMA added that it is currently assessing the full extent of the damage before deciding on the next steps.
