Kwara Police Issue Strong Warning Ahead of Nationwide Protest

The Kwara State Police Command has cautioned that miscreants planning to hijack the planned nationwide hunger strike will not be allowed.

They will be detained and face the full force of the law, the Command has warned.

The Command issued an advisory and warning notice ahead of the planned protests in Ilorin on Sunday, discouraging civilians from participation if they take place.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokeswoman, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, the state Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, warned that individuals with malevolent intent would not be tolerated.

“The Kwara State Police Command wishes to discourage citizens from engaging in the aforementioned protest and to remind everyone that if the peaceful protest does take place, any attempt by miscreants to hijack it for their own selfish ends will not be permitted.

“Our commitment to maintaining public safety and order is unshakable. Any person or group caught engaged in acts of violence, looting, arson, or other illegal activity will face the full force of the law.

“The police have deployed enough men and resources to closely monitor the protest, and our surveillance units are prepared to quickly identify and capture troublemakers. “Anyone found inciting violence or attempting to disrupt the peace will be arrested and prosecuted without hesitation,” the statement read.

Ejire stated that the Command is committed to upholding all residents’ constitutional rights while preserving peace and security in the state.

“We urge community leaders and local vigilantes to work with law enforcement to avert any breakdown in law and order. We urge everyone to act with respect and responsibility to keep society calm and constructive,” the statement continued.
