The Lagos State Government has unveiled a temporary traffic diversion plan ahead of the high-level Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) summit.
The summit will take place at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) and Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island.
The event is set to bring together heads of state, senior diplomats, and key stakeholders from across West Africa.
In a statement on Monday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the traffic advisory is designed to ease vehicle movement and enhance security during the summit.
Motorists traveling through Victoria Island, especially along Ahmadu Bello Way, Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, and nearby routes, are urged to use alternative roads to avoid congestion.
The diversion plan also impacts traffic coming from Kofo Abayomi Road, Bonny Camp, and the Independence/McEwen Bridge corridor, with redirected flows through adjacent streets connecting to Lekki, Lagos Island, and the Mainland.
Osiyemi added that officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other enforcement bodies will be deployed along affected routes to manage traffic, offer directions, and minimise disruption throughout the summit.
He appealed to motorists to cooperate with officials and be patient as Lagos hosts this major regional event aimed at boosting economic and diplomatic ties across West Africa.
