A tragic lightning strike has claimed the life of a young herder and 12 of his cows in Matuak Giwa, Bondon District of Moro’a Chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area, Southern Kaduna.
The fatal incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday during a heavy thunderstorm.
Confirming the incident, Village Head Simon Ayuba said the herder and his cattle had taken shelter from the rain when lightning struck.
“The herder, along with 12 cows, died on the spot. It was a heartbreaking event that has left the community in mourning,” Ayuba said.
The Ardo of Bondon District, Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, also confirmed the incident, revealing that the deceased herder was originally from Bauchi State.
He extended condolences to the family and community, urging collective prayers and emotional support for those affected.
He expressed deep sorrow over the loss and urged prayers and support for the bereaved family.
