Nasarawa Police Arrests 12 Suspected Kidnappers

The Nasarawa State Police Command arrested 12 suspected kidnappers involved in nefarious activities across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Shehu Umar-Nadada, made this known on Thursday, saying the recent measure put in place by the command has reduced crime in the state by an arresting proportion and yielded good results.

He said, “The command has arrested 12 suspected kidnappers and other criminal elements within the last week.” Investigations are ongoing, and we intend to arrest other suspects.”

At a press briefing in Lafia, Umar-Nadada said the police had identified many vulnerable places the kidnappers operate, including Lafia, Gandu near the Federal University of Lafia, the GRA/Angwan Maitasa region, and Shabu in the Lafia North local government area.

The commissioner, in an additional information, said that the latest killing of a 19-year-old student, one Anas Zubairu, after the ransom of N17 million was allegedly collected took place in the Project Quarters area of Lafia local government area, added that other areas of concern include Shinge and 500 Housing Estate in Lafia.

He said that patrols were increased throughout the neighborhoods to curb criminal activities, enabling residents to go about their daily routine.
