Ogun State to Host Inaugural National Transporters Game

Wale Sodehinde, the Project Director of the National Transporters Game, has announced that Ogun State will host the inaugural game for transport unions in October 2024.

Sodehinde spoke on Thursday during a stadium inspection with national transportation authorities in Sagamu and Ikenne.

He explained that the one-week game aims to bring unity and variety among Nigeria’s transporters while also improving people’s negative perceptions about transporters.

Sodehinde acknowledged Dayo Ogundipe, who came up with the idea in 2017 with former Senator Gbolahan Dada of Ogun West, and stated that eight of the twelve expected transportation unions have replied to their request.

“We are working to ensure unity, love, and growth among people who drive this country’s economy.

“Transporters are key contributors to the Nigerian economy. They should be properly addressed. “They should have a good image,” he stated.

“We expected 12 transport unions, but only eight have responded to our request. This suggests it’s a smart step, and perhaps by the time you publicize this program, others will join,” he said.

Stadiums inspected include Gateway International Stadium in Sagamu, Remo Star Stadium in Ikenne, and the National Youth Service Corps Camp in Sagamu, which will accommodate event participants.
