Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has issued a stern directive to security forces, demanding they intensify their search for the perpetrators behind Sunday’s deadly assault on the Ratatis community in Dorowa Babuje.
The attack, which struck the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, tragically cut short the lives of at least seven residents.
Governor Mutfwang voiced his strong condemnation of the violence in a formal statement released on Tuesday through the Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Joyce Ramnap.
The governor characterized the incident as a “barbaric and senseless” act that threatens to derail the hard-earned peace the state has built through months of steady dialogue, reconciliation efforts, and grassroots community engagement.
“The Plateau State Government has received with deep shock and profound sadness reports of a violent attack on Ratatis (Dorowa Babuje) in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area, which occurred on Sunday, 22nd February 2026, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent lives,” the statement read.
Governor Mutfwang also shared that those wounded in the raid are currently being treated in local hospitals, noting that the government is keeping a close watch on their progress to ensure they receive all the medical support they need to recover.
