Three alleged armed robbers and kidnappers were apprehended by the Edo State Police Command in the Aviele community of the state’s Etsako West Local Government Area.
They were arrested by Agbede Police Division officers and Vigilante members on March 16, 2025, according to Moses Yamu, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, who addressed newsmen in a statement.
Yamu clarified that they were stopped and searched in the neighborhood around Abumere’s powerline.
He clarified that during the stop and search, the operatives arrested and held three suspects: Jamilu Idris, 20, Usman Shuaibu, 24, and Yahuza Usman, 20.
The Command’s image maker explained that preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects belonged to a kidnap and armed robbery syndicate, including motorcycle snatching along the Edo North axis of the state.
He explained that the recovered items from the suspects comprised one English-made Beretta pistol, one dagger, and an Infinix phone.
He further stated that an investigation was in progress to arrest other members of the gang.
Yamu believed that the achievement documented within the last 48 hours was part of the ongoing efforts of the Command to rid the state of criminality and crime.
He did point out, though, that Betty Enekpen Isokpan, the State Police Commissioner, had assured the general public of the Command’s resolve to protect lives and property and apprehend criminals.
