Officers from the Ebute Ero Police Division have apprehended a man named Jackson Abraham for being in possession of a stolen vehicle, discovered during a routine surveillance operation.
The arrest was made after patrol officers noticed an ash-colored Mitsubishi Space Wagon being driven in a suspicious manner.
Following their instincts and based on reasonable suspicion, the officers stopped the vehicle and questioned its driver.
Initial findings revealed that the car had been unlawfully removed from a motor park in Ogun State without the knowledge or permission of its rightful owner.
Further investigation showed that both the suspect and the vehicle’s owner live at the same address, raising further questions about the circumstances of the case.
The car was found intact and has been secured at the police station pending further investigation.
The owner of the car, who had earlier reported it missing to the Ogun State Police Command, has been contacted and is currently cooperating with the investigation.
Meanwhile, the suspect remains in custody as steps are underway to hand over both him and the recovered vehicle to the Ogun State Police Command, which is managing the original case.
Authorities expect the case to advance quickly as the investigation continues.
