Police Inspector Killed by Stray Bullet in Adamawa

A police inspector, Musa Kampani, was killed by a stray bullet during a routine patrol on Song–Gombi Road in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Sunday at about 11:00 a.m.

According to sources available to Zagazola Makama, officers on patrol intercepted a tricycle carrying a civilian dressed in plain clothes and found in possession of a Dane gun.

The individual failed to provide valid identification or a license for the weapon, leading to a tense standoff.

Members of the local Hunters and Civilian Joint Task Force reportedly arrived and began firing celebratory shots into the air, during which the inspector was hit by a stray pellet.

He was rushed to Cottage Hospital in Song but was confirmed dead on arrival.

His body has been taken to the morgue for an autopsy.

The JTF Commander, Adamu Zubairu, has been arrested, while police continue searching for other suspects involved. The SCID has launched a full investigation.
