Putin Open to Ukraine Peace Deal – Trump Envoy

US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to securing a lasting peace agreement with Ukraine.

Trump has been actively urging both Moscow and Kyiv to reach a ceasefire, though his efforts have yet to produce any significant breakthroughs with the Kremlin, despite ongoing discussions between Russian and American officials.

Witkoff met with Putin in Saint Petersburg on Friday—marking their third encounter since Trump returned to office in January.

In an interview with Fox News, Witkoff expressed optimism about the prospects of peace, noting that two of Putin’s senior advisers, Yuri Ushakov and Kirill Dmitriev, were also present at the impactful meeting.

“Putin’s request is to get to have a permanent peace here. So beyond the ceasefire, we got an answer to that.

“I think we might be on the verge of something that would be very, very important for the world at large,” Witkoff said.

He added that trade and investment agreements between Russia and the United States were also on the table during the talks.
