Security forces have successfully repelled a bandit attack on Yankaba village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident was revealed in a post shared on X on Sunday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the report, the attack occurred on March 7 at about 6:00 p.m. when suspected armed bandits stormed the community, firing gunshots into the air and causing panic among residents.
Security sources said troops of Operation Fansan Yanma, working alongside tactical teams of the Nigeria Police Force, were swiftly deployed to the area and engaged the attackers in a gun battle.
“The bandits were forced to retreat after they encountered stronger firepower from the security forces.
“Following the confrontation, the attackers reportedly abandoned their mission and fled the community.
“Security personnel have since increased patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents,” Makama wrote.
Makama added that monitoring and additional security operations are still ongoing in the community.
