Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester has criticized President Donald Trump’s administration for allegedly leaving states to manage natural disasters without adequate federal support.
In a statement posted to her official X account on Saturday, Rochester expressed deep concern about Trump’s apparent lack of responsiveness to the increasing frequency of natural disasters in the United States.
“Natural disasters are getting more and more frequent and the Trump administration is now telling states: ‘fend for yourselves.’
“It’s as heartless as it is thoughtless, and our communities will be worse off for it,” she wrote.
California, among other states, has recently faced severe natural disasters, including destructive wildfires and powerful storms.
Recent reports indicate that California is expected to experience multiple episodes of significant rainfall over the coming week. The storms are predicted to be so continuous and intense that distinguishing between individual storm systems could prove challenging.
