Sokoto Civil Servants to Close Early During Ramadan

The Sokoto State Government has adjusted official modified hours for civil servants in the state in observance of the holy month of Ramadan.

According to a circular issued by the Head of Civil Service, Sulaiman S/Fulani Ahmadu, on March 3, 2025, all civil servants, including the Unified Local Government Service and the Local Government Education Authority, will be closing one and a half hours earlier than usual during the fasting period.

“Under the new schedule, government offices will shut at 2:30 pm on Monday to Thursday and 12:00 noon on Friday,” the circular stated.

The change was signed off by Governor Ahmed Aliyu, who is seeking to give Muslim civil servants more time for prayers, religious activities, and fasting preparation.

“The decision is to enable civil servants to spend more time with Almighty Allah during the Ramadan season,” a statement stated.

The civil servants have received the decision warmly, describing it as a reasonable move that will help them balance work and religious duties.
