Suspected Suicide Bomber Killed in Abuja Explosion

An explosion suspected to have been caused by a bomb killed one person on Monday in Abuja.

Another person was reportedly injured in the blast, which is believed to have been triggered by an improvised explosive device (IED).

According to AIT, an eyewitness – a military personnel who chose to remain anonymous – said the deceased, suspected to be a suicide bomber, was killed by an explosive device concealed in a rubber container near the Mogadishu Barracks in Abuja.

However, military authorities at the scene offered a differing account, suggesting that the explosion might have been caused by a phone device and not necessarily an IED.

As of the time of filing this report, personnel from the military, Department of State Services (DSS), the police, and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) are on the scene, conducting investigations and taking inventory of the situation.
