The University of Jos branch of the National Union of Taraba State Students (NUTAS) formally reached out to the Taraba State administration on Wednesday, urging the swift relocation of students currently stuck in zones hit by escalating security threats.
In an appeal directed to Governor Agbu Kefas, the student body pointed to the intensifying anxiety regarding the protection and health of their members living in high-risk locations.
The formal request, which carried the signatures of President Sankun Solomon Gam and Assistant Secretary-General Samuel Anyar Bawun Bente, stressed that state involvement is vital to keep students safe and provide peace of mind to their parents.
“Many students are currently exposed to unsafe conditions, and there is increasing fear and uncertainty among them and their families,” the document noted.
While pushing for a fast move to more secure locations, the union noted that looking after the lives of students fits perfectly with the administration’s duty to defend its people especially the younger generation who hold the keys to Taraba State’s future.
NUTAS shared their belief that the governor would act quickly, noting that a fast evacuation would serve as clear proof of the government’s dedication to the well-being of its people.
