Tinubu Meets APC Governors Ahead of NEC Meeting

President Bola Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner on Wednesday night.

Sources suggest the meeting is part of preparations for the ruling party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) gathering scheduled for Thursday.

Tinubu is anticipated to use the opportunity to “communicate his position to the governors.”

One of the key issues on the agenda for the NEC meeting is the appointment of a new National Chairman, following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje last month.

In the interim, the Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, stepped in “in an acting capacity after Ganduje stepped down.”

There is speculation that the NEC may formally confirm Dalori in this role and set a deadline for him to convene an elective convention to choose a permanent leader.

On the other hand, some party insiders believe “Tinubu could choose a substantive chairman during the meeting.”
