Bola Tinubu has asked the Nigerian Senate to screen and confirm Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The President also requested the Senate to confirm Magnus Abe as chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.
The requests were contained in separate letters that were read during plenary by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
Tinubu urged lawmakers to review and approve Oyedele’s nomination as part of ongoing adjustments within the Federal Executive Council.
Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram in Akoko area of Ondo State, previously served as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led several initiatives aimed at reforming the country’s tax system.
The 50-year-old is widely known as an economist, accountant and public policy expert.
In another letter to the Senate, the President sought the screening and confirmation of Abe as chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission following the resignation of Gbenga Komolafe.
Also nominated for confirmation by the Senate are Paul Yaro Jezhi and Sunday Adebayo Babalola.
Both nominees were put forward for appointment as non-executive commissioners.
