Track Bandits Through Ransom Payments – Security Analyst

Dr Sani Aliyu, a security and intelligence analyst, said he would not object if the government used ransom payments to bandits as a way to track them.

Aliyu made the remarks on Friday during an interview on Trust TV nigeria tv channel, commenting on the ongoing wave of insecurity affecting Nigeria use of banks and telecommunications.

He also referred to former President Goodluck Jonathan’s claims of Boko Haram infiltration within the presidency, citing occasions where confidential discussions were leaked as evidence of internal compromise.

“I wouldn’t mind if the government paid ransom to bandits and then tracked and rounded them up at the spending end.

“This is strategic. Use the Interpol and other channels to trace, communicate, and apprehend them at the point of spending.

“Such monies are spent without any arrest. The go scot-free. I think it’s very disturbing,” he said.
