Katsina State security operatives repelled an armed bandit ambush in Bakori Local Government Area, rescuing three abducted victims, a woman, and two kids.
The ambush, reported to have taken place at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, was confirmed by security expert Zagazola Makama in an X post on Monday.
Guga Village was attacked by armed bandits in large numbers, but the prompt action of troops from Operation FANSAN YANMA resulted in the exit of the attackers.
“The troops responded immediately and engaged the bandits in a fierce gunfight, compelling them to flee,” Makama said.
But on their return, the attackers attacked Nasarawa Quarters in Bakori Town, abducting a mother, Umma Bello (35), and two of her children.
Security officers swiftly pursued the perpetrators, where they exchanged fire with them in a second shootout.
Outnumbered, the bandits abandoned the hostages and fled with bullet wounds.
