Troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have successfully neutralised a suspected bandit and an armed robber in separate operations conducted in Wase and Bokkos Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
This development was confirmed by OPSH Media Officer, Major Samson Zhakom, in an official statement released on Tuesday in Jos. He explained that the operations took place on March 24.
“The suspected bandit was eliminated following intense clearance operations conducted by troops at Kampani Zurak in Wase LGA. He was a member of a banditry syndicate operating in Wase general area and Taraba State before he was neutralised,” Zhakom said.
He further detailed another incident that occurred on the same day, stating:
“On the same day, we received a distress call about an ongoing armed robbery incident along Bokkos – Richa road.
“Troops mobilised to the area, made contact and overwhelmed the criminals with superior firepower. One of the armed robbers was neutralised, while others fled with various degrees of injuries.”
Zhakom also confirmed the recovery of one AK-47 rifle from the scene, noting that additional operations are underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang who escaped.
