Troops under 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), working jointly with personnel from Operation SAFE HAVEN, have successfully neutralized several bandits and recovered over 1,000 rustled cows in Taraba State.
This was disclosed in a statement by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for 6 Brigade Nigerian Army.
The statement explained that the “troops while acting on credible intelligence, responded swiftly to a report of armed bandits mounted on approximately 30 motorcycles who had crossed from Plateau State into Taraba State. troops of 6 Brigade, mobilized and projected forces toward Komodoro village in Karim Lamido LGA. Upon contact, the bandits who had already fled across the river boundary into Daji Madam Forest in Plateau State, were engaged in a fierce firefight.”
In the course of the engagement, two of the bandits were neutralized, and about one thousand rustled cattle were recovered.
The recovered animals were promptly secured and relocated to the Jebjeb community in Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
“Plans are currently underway to conduct thorough identification and verification processes to ensure the rustled cattle are returned to their rightful owners in due course,” the statement added.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the quick response and coordination between the security teams, reiterating the Brigade’s resolve to maintain consistent pressure on elements threatening peace in the area.
He also appealed to the public to continue supporting the military and other security agencies with timely and accurate information, stressing that such collaboration is key to achieving enduring peace and stability across Taraba State and neighboring communities.
