Troops Rescue 20 Kidnap Victims After Gun Battle in Taraba

Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, in collaboration with the 67 Police Mobile Force (PMF), successfully rescued 20 kidnapped individuals after a fierce gun battle with armed kidnappers along the Takum-Mararaba Road in Taraba State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development on his official X handle on Sunday, stating that the operation occurred on Saturday night at approximately 9:50 p.m., following credible intelligence about a kidnapping in Muji town.

Makama reported that security forces, assisted by PMF operatives stationed at Samta, promptly responded and confronted the kidnappers.

“Overpowered by the superior firepower of the security operatives, the assailants abandoned the victims and fled into the forest,” he said.

Two of the rescued victims, Yakubu Usman from Angwan Abuja and Godwin Peter from Angwan Dadin Kowa, sustained injuries and were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

Additionally, security operatives recovered vehicles abandoned by the kidnappers and continue efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
