United States President Donald Trump continues to express full confidence in his national security team despite recent revelations involving leaked Signal group chat messages discussing military action in Yemen.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the issue on Wednesday, confirming Trump’s ongoing trust in his advisers.
“What I can say definitively is what I just spoke to the president about, and he continues to have confidence in his national security team,” Leavitt stated during a briefing in the White House.
Leavitt’s comments came in response to a question regarding potential dismissals resulting from the controversial group chat. Pressed further about whether Trump felt misled concerning assurances of no classified information being shared in the chat, Leavitt reiterated, “I have given you my answer. The president feels the same today as he did yesterday.”
This affirmation follows a statement from Trump’s National Security Adviser, Mike Waltz, who publicly took responsibility for mistakenly adding a journalist to the chat. Waltz admitted on Tuesday during an interview on Fox News’s “The Ingraham Angle” that the incident was embarrassing.
