President Donald Trump has named Brent Bozell as the next US ambassador to South Africa.
Trump said on Truth Social that Brent “brings fearless tenacity, extraordinary experience, and vast knowledge to a nation that desperately needs it.”
The president stated that Brent, the 69-year-old founder of the Media Research Center, “has exposed Fake News hypocrites for many years.”
The appointee is a pro-Israel media activist whose blog focuses on “conservative values, culture, and politics to expose liberal media bias.”
Brent’s nomination, which requires Senate confirmation, comes after Ebrahim Rasool, South Africa’s ambassador to Washington, was dismissed.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio called Rasool a “race-baiting politician” who despises America and President Trump.
In a post on X, Rubio declared that the diplomat was “persona non grata” and “no longer welcome in our great country.”
Rubio cited an article that quoted Rasool’s recent comments about the Trump administration during an online discussion.
Rasool claimed that the US president was “mobilizing a supremacism” and attempting to “project white victimhood as a dog whistle.”
