US President Donald Trump has praised Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, and other state lawmakers for successfully passing the School Choice Bill.
In a post on Truth Social on Thursday, Trump expressed his approval, stating: “Congratulations to my friends, Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and Speaker Dustin Burrows, along with Texas Legislators, for finally passing school choice, which I strongly endorsed – this is a gigantic victory for students and parents in the Great State of Texas!”
He added, “We will very soon be sending Education back to all the States, where it belongs. It is our goal to bring Education in the United States to the highest level, one that it has never attained before.”
Earlier on Thursday, the Texas House of Representatives approved a significant measure to establish one of the largest taxpayer-funded school voucher programs.
The House passed the plan, part of a broader effort by Trump’s allies, which aims to provide up to $10,000 for private school tuition, homeschooling, or virtual learning options.
The legislation, led by Abbott, Patrick, and Burrows, introduces a system where parents can use state funds, distributed through Education Savings Accounts (ESAs), to pay for private school tuition or other educational choices.
