Trump Reacts as Two Republicans Win Florida Special Elections

U.S. President Donald Trump has extended his congratulations to Republican candidates Jimmy Patronis and Randy Fine after they emerged victorious in Tuesday’s special congressional elections in Florida.

Jimmy Patronis took the northwest Florida 1st District, defeating Democratic challenger Gay Valimont, who had been reported to have outspent and outraised him during the campaign. Patronis will now occupy the seat vacated by Matt Gaetz.

In northern Florida’s 6th District, Republican Randy Fine defeated Democrat Josh Weil and will fill the seat vacated by Mike Waltz, who recently transferred to a new role as Trump’s National Security Adviser.

The double victories further solidified the GOP majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, driving the party’s lead to 220-213.

In response to the outcome, Trump turned to his Truth Social site on Tuesday night to congratulate the wins and single out the significance of his endorsement:

“Florida House Seats won both, big by Republican candidate. Trump endorsement, as always, way stronger than the Democrats forces of darkness. Well done America.

Jimmy Patronis wins big! Well done Jimmy.

Well done Randy, an awesome win versus an enormous Avalance of cash.”.

The ex-president’s assertion highlights the ongoing influence of his endorsements in Republican elections and primaries, particularly as Republicans remain to rally around leading candidates before the 2024 general elections.
