UN Condemns Attack on Kiev Hospital by Russian Missile

The UN Human Rights Office’s first investigations revealed that the children’s hospital in Kiev was directly targeted by a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile.

Danielle Bell, the leader of the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, stated this on Tuesday.

She stated that specialists reached this decision after analyzing camera evidence and inspecting the damage on-site.

It was her description of “one of most egregious attacks we have seen since the onset of the invasion” .

Staff took young patients to safety in the bunker shortly before the attack on Monday, she claimed. Otherwise, the number of victims would have been far higher.

She stated that two people died in the attack.

All 600 of the hospital’s young patients had been sent to other medical facilities.

The hospital, which treated many children with cancer and other serious illnesses, had been severely damaged and could no longer be used without major renovations, she stated.

The World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters in Kiev illustrated the situation on the ground at X.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, there have been around 1,900 attacks against hospitals, doctors’ surgeries, ambulances, and other such targets.

According to universally applicable international humanitarian law, such healthcare establishments cannot be attacked, the International Committee of the Red Cross has repeatedly emphasized on X.
