The United States and Israel have announced the killing of the intelligence chief of Hezbollah, Hussein Makled.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) revealed the development on Monday through a statement posted on its official X account.
According to the military, Makled was killed in what it described as a “precise strike” carried out in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
“ELIMINATED: Hussein Makled, the head of Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters, was eliminated in a precise strike in Beirut,” the IDF said.
Makled’s killing expands the growing list of Iran-aligned figures taken out by joint US-Israeli operations during the ongoing confrontation with Iran.
It would be recalled that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with several other figures, was reportedly killed in earlier US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
Iran has, over the years, launched multiple retaliatory attacks against US and Israeli allies across the Middle East.
The US said at least four of its troops were killed following an Iranian strike.
Meanwhile, at the Saudi Aramco facility in Ras Tanura, the largest refinery in Saudi Arabia part of the complex caught fire after being hit by an Iranian drone on Monday.
