An American woman named Faye Hall has been released by the Taliban in Afghanistan, according to a statement from Washington’s former envoy to Kabul, Zalmay Khalilzad.
Hall was captured earlier this year alongside two British nationals and their Afghan interpreter.
Her release marks the fourth US citizen freed by the Taliban since January, all part of negotiations facilitated by Qatar.
“American citizen Faye Hall, just released by the Taliban, is now in the care of our friends, the Qataris, in Kabul and will soon be on her way home,” Khalilzad wrote on X on Saturday.
Khalilzad has been involved with the US delegation coordinating the release of captives held by the Taliban.
Hall’s freedom comes shortly after the release of another American citizen, George Glezmann, who had been held captive in Afghanistan for over two years.
Following his release, Glezmann reunited with his wife in the United States, where he was warmly welcomed by friends and his former cellmate.
