The Ministry of Defense Qatar has announced that Qatar joined the United States and Israel in operations against Iran, revealing that its armed forces shot down two Iranian SU-24 aircraft and intercepted several missiles and drones targeting locations across the country.
In a statement released Monday by the Directorate of Moral Guidance in Doha, the ministry said the Qatar Armed Forces neutralized the threats after detecting them early and launching a rapid operational response.
The statement noted that the Qatar Emiri Air Force downed two SU-24 fighter jets that originated from Iran, while air defence systems intercepted seven ballistic missiles before they could hit their targets.
It added that five drones were also brought down through coordinated operations involving the air force and the Qatar Emiri Navy.
According to the ministry, all incoming projectiles were destroyed in line with the country’s defence plan, ensuring no impact on the intended locations.
Officials credited the outcome to “the high level of readiness and joint coordination among the relevant authorities,” while expressing gratitude “to Allah the Almighty.”
The ministry reiterated that Qatar’s military has the capability and resources to safeguard national sovereignty and territory, pledging a decisive response to any external aggression.
Authorities further advised citizens, residents and visitors to stay calm, adhere to official security guidance, avoid spreading unverified information, and rely only on statements issued through official channels.
“May Allah protect Qatar, its Amir, its people and all those residing on its land,” the statement concluded.
