Zamfara Police Rescue Social Activist Hamdiya Sidi Shariff

Zamfara State Police Command has rescued social activist, Hamdiya Sidi Shariff, from a bandits’ den.

This is contrary to speculation on social media that she was arrested and detained by the police in Bakura Local Government Area of the state.

The State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Maikaba, stated that the claim alleging that Hamdiya Sidi Shariff was arrested and detained by the police in Bakura is false.

According to the Commissioner, Hamdiya Sidi Shariff, who hails from Sokoto State, was abducted by suspected bandits. However, the police in Bakura rescued her, and the Divisional Police Officer brought her to the command on Thursday to be reunited with her family.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the police ensured that all necessary medical examinations were conducted on Hamdiya to confirm she was in good health before handing her over to her relative, Fatima Bello.

Hamdiya Sidi also shared her account of the situation, refuting the claim that she was arrested and detained by the police.

A relative of the rescued victim, Fatima Bello, who came to receive Hamdiya at the Zamfara Police Command, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner and the Divisional Police Officer of the Bakura Division for their efforts in securing her release.
