Zulum Grants 2-Year Tax Relief to Flood Victims, Maiduguri Market Traders

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved a two-year tax holiday for dealers affected by the September 2024 flood disaster and those at Maiduguri Monday Market.

The waiver was endorsed by Zulum to ease the financial impact of dealers and enable corporate growth.

Borno State Internal Revenue Service (BO-IRS) Chairman Professor Ibrahim Bello Alhaji, in the announcement last week, clarified that the exemption is included as part of the tax administration reforms under Governor Zulum’s ease of doing business in the state.

He went on to mention that Borno State is currently ranked 12th in the nation for improved and digitized tax programs.

The chairman of BO-IRS pointed out ongoing activities in Jiddari, Umarari, GRA, Bulumkutu, Custom, Chad Basin, and some other locations, noting that monies generated through taxes benefit the whole state.

A devastating flood last year caused general economic misery, rendering many residents unemployed.
