Sergio Aguero, a former Argentina international, has selected three players he believes can take on leadership roles once captain Lionel Messi departs from international football.
The three players are Julian Álvarez, Alexis MacAllister, and Enzo Fernandez.
Messi is currently 37 years old and close to retiring from international football.
The Inter Miami forward is currently in the Argentina squad for the Copa America 2024.
In an interview with Stake (via Daily Mail), Aguero predicted that Julian Álvarez, Alexis MacAllister, and Enzo Fernandez would be the club’s future leaders.
“Some argue Emiliano Martinez, but goalkeepers play different roles and require different leadership styles. But I believe that in the future, those are the players.”
