Bruno Fernandes Eyes World Cup After Nations League Win

Bruno Fernandes has outlined Portugal’s new ambition after their recent UEFA Nations League victory.

According to the midfielder, the next goal for him and his teammates is to aim for FIFA World Cup glory.

Portugal secured their second Nations League title after overcoming Spain in a dramatic penalty shootout on Sunday.

Fernandes was instrumental in the Selecao’s win, helping them defeat Spain 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw across regulation and extra time.

The match saw Nuno Mendes and Cristiano Ronaldo score for Portugal in the 26th and 61st minutes, while Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Oyarzabal had earlier given Spain the lead.

Following the triumph, Fernandes shared insights into what lies ahead for the national team.

He said via Tribal Football, “We want to be at the World Cup and try to win another competition.”

“Portugal don’t enter anything to lose. But first we have qualification ahead of us and we’re going to do everything we can to win.”

Portugal remain strong contenders for the 2026 World Cup title, bolstered by their current form and recent Nations League success.
