Champions League: Ancelotti Confident of Real Madrid’s ‘Comeback’ Against Arsenal

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed confidence that his team can pull off a “remontada” against Arsenal this week.

The term “remontada,” which roughly translates to “the comeback,” gained worldwide attention in March 2017 when Barcelona made history by overturning a 4-0 deficit to PSG with a stunning 6-1 victory in the Champions League, advancing on a 6-5 aggregate score.

Real Madrid now find themselves in a similar situation, having suffered a 3-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last week.

Despite struggling at times this season in the Champions League, the Spanish giants fought through a playoff against Manchester City to reach the knockout rounds.

Ahead of the crucial second leg, Ancelotti remained upbeat, telling reporters during a press conference on April 12, as reported by Madrid Xtra, that his team will give it their all. “Remontada? We will try. It happened many times. We will try until the last minute,” he stated.

In La Liga, Real Madrid are also in second place, trailing Barcelona in the title race after 30 games.

Having already lost twice to their rivals this season, they are also set to face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final later this month.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are second in the Premier League, 11 points behind leaders Liverpool with seven games remaining.
