Champions League: Letexier to Referee Real Madrid vs Arsenal

UEFA have confirmed that François Letexier will officiate the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg between Real Madrid and Arsenal on Wednesday.

The French referee will oversee the high-pressure clash at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Real Madrid, the reigning champions, face an uphill battle as they aim to overturn a 3-0 defeat suffered in the first leg last week.

Letexier is no stranger to the spotlight, having previously officiated “the Euro 2020 final in Germany between Spain and England.”

Wednesday’s tie will mark the fifth time the 35-year-old has taken charge of a Real Madrid match.

Earlier this season, Letexier was the referee when “the Madrid team lost 2-0 to Liverpool” in the group stages.

He also officiated the dramatic first leg of last season’s quarter-finals at the Santiago Bernabéu against Manchester City, which finished “in a 3-3 draw,” and the group stage win over Napoli where “Real Madrid won 4-2.”
