Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has explained that he chose not to celebrate his goal against Juventus in the UEFA Champions League out of respect for his former manager, Luciano Spalletti.
Juventus overturned the Turkish side’s 5–2 advantage from the first leg, securing a 3–0 victory in Turin.
With the contest tied at 5–5 on aggregate, Osimhen found the net to make it 3–1 on the night.
The return fixture ultimately finished 3–2, after Alper Yilmaz grabbed a late goal.
“I didn’t feel the need to celebrate,” Osimhen told Prime Video Italia.
“I felt it was important to show respect for someone (Spalletti) who means a lot to me and has played an important role in my career.”
