Departing Manchester City playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, has reached a verbal agreement with Napoli to join the Serie A champions during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 33-year-old midfielder is set to become a free agent this summer after Manchester City decided against offering him a new contract to remain at the Etihad Stadium.
De Bruyne, who believes he can still compete at the highest level, has not ruled out the possibility of joining another Premier League club. He has reportedly attracted interest from several sides, including Chicago Fire, Aston Villa, and others.
However, according to Sky Sport Italy, De Bruyne has given his approval to Napoli, indicating his preference to join the Italian side over other suitors. The Belgian star has also informed Napoli that he and his family are ready to relocate to Italy.
While Napoli has yet to finalize the terms of his contract, they are currently leading the race to sign the experienced midfielder. The move would represent a significant acquisition for new Napoli manager Antonio Conte as he looks to rebuild the squad.
Kevin De Bruyne initially joined Manchester City in 2015 from Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg and has since been integral to the club’s domestic and European success.
