EPL: Man City Faces Steep FFP Punishment

The UK Telegraph reports that Manchester City faces being punished points “across multiple seasons” as the start of its 115 Financial Fair Play, or FFP, charges case approaches.

Top-flight clubs believe a solitary point deduction would be ample punishment if City were found guilty, even if that meant relegation from the Premier League.

The Sunday Times reports that one ‘senior figure’ in football has suggested docking points over several seasons to prevent Pep Guardiola’s side from challenging for titles, and even stripping them of their top-flight status.

The court hearing, which starts on Monday, is expected to last ten weeks.

The Premier League initially charged City in February 2023, but the alleged breaches date back between 2009 and 2018.

They won numerous league titles and other domestic cups during that era.
