EPL: Salah Wants to Stay with Van Dijk at Liverpool

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has made it clear he’d “love” to keep playing alongside Virgil van Dijk next season.

Salah ended months of speculation about his future by signing a new two-year deal with the club last Friday.

The 33-year-old forward was approaching free agency – the same situation Van Dijk currently finds himself in as his contract winds down.

But there’s growing optimism around Anfield that the Reds’ captain will follow Salah’s lead and sign a new deal soon.

Van Dijk strengthened his connection with fans on Sunday when he scored the winning goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over West Ham. His passionate celebration – kissing the badge in front of the Kop – sent a strong message about his feelings for the club.

When asked about the emotional moment after the game, Van Dijk said: “Everyone knows how much I love this club, and let’s see what next week will look like.”

Salah added his voice to the conversation, saying: “I’m glad we managed to do that [contract] before the end of the season. Hopefully, Virgil will be next. He can do whatever he wants, but I would love to play with him next season.”
