Former Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has officially asked to switch allegiance and represent Jamaica.
Greenwood has made it known to the Football Association, FA, and FIFA that he wishes to represent Jamaica.
The player, now with Marseille, was left out by the Three Lions following his arrest in January 2022 on charges of attempted rape, assault with intent to cause actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour.
Greenwood was later charged but was released in February 2023 as the charges were dropped.

“So my understanding and I’d have to double-check my understanding—is he’s asked to switch,” FA chief executive Mark Bullingham said.
“That’s happened formally, so he wouldn’t be able to switch again because you can only change allegiance once.
“I know people asked Gareth about him, and Gareth was up front in saying that Greenwood hadn’t been in his thinking because he hadn’t been performing at that level.
“So I’m not aware of any communication we had with him. I don’t think there was ever a request or anything like that. It just wasn’t one we got to, so it’s a personal decision by him.”
