The Vice-President of Galatasaray, Abdullah Kavukcu, has expressed the club’s strong determination to retain Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen beyond his current loan deal.
According to Kavukcu, Galatasaray are prepared to activate Osimhen’s release clause and match his wage demands in order to secure a permanent transfer.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli and made a huge impact by scoring 36 goals in 40 appearances. His goals were crucial as the club clinched both the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish Cup.
With the 27-year-old drawing interest from top European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, Galatasaray are making a concerted effort to keep him at Rams Park.
“We talked to my president about Osimhen in January,” Kavukcu told A Spor. “We told Osimhen in January, ‘We want you very much, don’t go anywhere. We are working to get your transfer.’
“We are developing projects for this. We developed them to sit at that table and we are at that table right now. We are ready to get his transfer and pay the salaries he will receive from Europe.”
Osimhen’s future remains uncertain, but Galatasaray’s commitment to securing his services could play a key role in the final decision.
