Fulham attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi has revealed that the most influential advice he ever received came from Nigerian football legend Jay-Jay Okocha, who is also his uncle.
The 29-year-old explained that Okocha encouraged him to always play with freedom and confidence against any opponent throughout his professional career.
Iwobi, a former Arsenal F.C. player, made this known while speaking in a recent interview on The High Performance Podcast.
“He [Okocha] told me to express myself and never be afraid to show what I can do,” Iwobi said.
“I got that advice from my uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha. He said it to me once, and I simply watched the way he lived his life.
“I feel fortunate that he is my uncle. Growing up, I had the chance to see him both on the pitch and away from football.”
