Barcelona winger, Lamine Yamal has named Lionel Messi as the greatest footballer of all time.
Yamal made the remark after playing a key role in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Espanyol on Thursday, a victory that sealed the club’s 2024/25 LaLiga title triumph.
The Spain international scored one of the goals that secured the win, alongside teammate Fermin Lopez, helping the Blaugrana edge out rivals Real Madrid in the title race.
When asked about comparisons with football legend Lionel Messi, Yamal responded with humility and admiration.
“I’d never compare me with Messi… Leo is the best player ever,” Yamal was quoted by football journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Lionel Messi, now at Inter Miami, spent 21 seasons at Barcelona, where he won a record 34 trophies, including ten La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League crowns. He left the Catalan club in 2021 for Paris Saint-Germain before moving to the United States.
Yamal’s acknowledgment of Messi underscores the Argentine’s enduring legacy at Barcelona and within the football world at large.
