Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has shared that the knee trouble Noni Madueke ran into while playing for his country isn’t as severe as the team originally feared.
Madueke had to be pulled from the pitch during the opening half of England’s 1-1 draw against Uruguay at Wembley last Friday.
However, Arteta has now clarified that the player might be back in action in just a matter of “days”.
“No, it’s not [that serious]. It looked really bad and Noni was really worried, especially after what happened in his other knee a few weeks ago and he was out for six weeks.
“But no, it’s nowhere near that injury so that was really good news.”
On the other hand, fellow England star Eberechi Eze remains out of commission due to the calf problem he developed before the Carabao Cup final. He won’t be part of the squad for the FA Cup quarter-final clash at Southampton this Saturday.
“He’s out,” Arteta added. “With him, I cannot say how long because he is a special character.”
There was a brighter outlook, however, for Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber, as both players are currently in the running to suit up at St Mary’s.
