Manchester United have opened discussions to sign Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Mateta has had another positive season for Crystal Palace.
He has scored eight goals since the beginning of the year, two of them in Crystal Palace’s victory at Old Trafford in January.
However, according to L’Équipe, discussions are already taking place, with the Eagles resigned to losing Mateta.
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will be eager to strengthen his front line this summer, with doubts over the future of Marcus Rashford and with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee out of form.
Mateta is recovering from a severe ear injury and will face Fulham in the FA Cup quarter-finals later this month.
The 27-year-old needed 25 stitches to mend his ripped left ear after being kicked in the head by Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts during the FA Cup clash between the two teams.
