Real Madrid legend Luka Modric has named Paris Saint-Germain’s Vitinha as the world’s best current midfielder.
Modric expressed his admiration for the PSG star, highlighting his ability to organize the game.
“Vitinha is one of the best, if not the best, midfielders. The other day, when he came on at halftime, he once again made a big difference,” Modric told Madrid Xtra (via Nova TV).
“I think he had a phenomenal season, he’s the kind of player who helps the team play better.
“I really like him as a player. He had a phenomenal season. He helps the team play better, he’s a game organizer and he’s indispensable to the team.
“He showed that in the Champions League and with the national team. In my opinion, he was perhaps the best midfielder last season. He’s excellent on the ball, I really like him.”
Vitinha enjoyed a successful 2024-2025 campaign, winning the UEFA Champions League, the French Cup, and the Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain.
The 25-year-old also lifted the UEFA Nations League trophy with Portugal on Sunday in Munich, after his team defeated Spain 5-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in the final.
