Nigeria’s D’Tigress Defeat Philippines 101–84

Nigeria women’s national basketball team rallied to defeat Philippines women’s national basketball team 101–84 in their third match at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament on Saturday.

The African champions, who had earlier suffered a 77–60 defeat to Colombia women’s national basketball team in their second game of the tournament on Thursday, began the contest slowly.

The Philippines claimed the first quarter 25–21 and carried a comfortable nine-point advantage into halftime, leading 51–42.

D’Tigress, however, turned the game around in the third quarter, outscoring the Philippines 34–21 to wipe out the deficit.

The team, coached by Rena Wakama, sealed the win with a dominant performance in the final quarter, taking it 25–12 and pushing their total past the 100-point mark in convincing fashion.

D’Tigress will next face France women’s national basketball team on Sunday before concluding their campaign against Germany women’s national basketball team on Monday.
